The Cosmopolitan opened in 2010 and immediately became the coolest hotel on the Strip. It has managed to hold that title for 15+ years — no small feat in a city that constantly reinvents itself. I have stayed here four times, and each visit has reinforced why it remains my top recommendation for first-time luxury visitors and repeat Strip veterans alike.

Now part of the Marriott Autograph Collection, The Cosmopolitan has maintained its independent spirit while adding the benefits of Marriott Bonvoy points. It is a rare combination: a hotel with genuine personality that also earns you points toward free nights.

Location

The Cosmopolitan sits at the absolute center of the Strip — directly across from Bellagio, adjacent to the Aria/CityCenter complex, and within walking distance of virtually every major attraction. The location alone justifies a premium. You will spend almost nothing on rideshares because everything is walkable.

The hotel's entrance on Las Vegas Boulevard is dramatic — a soaring atrium with chandelier art installations sets the tone immediately. The casino floor is compact by Strip standards, which makes it feel more intimate and less overwhelming than the mega-casinos.

Rooms

Every room at The Cosmopolitan is a suite — the smallest category (Terrace Studio) includes a separate living area and a private outdoor terrace. This is the hotel's signature feature and it genuinely sets it apart from every other property on the Strip.

The Terrace Studio terrace is large enough for two chairs and a small table. Strip-facing terraces on floors 20+ offer an unobstructed view of the Bellagio fountains and the entire southern Strip. I have watched the fountain show from my terrace with a glass of wine at midnight — it is one of the best experiences Las Vegas has to offer.

Room design is modern and well-executed: warm wood tones, quality bedding, and a bathroom with a deep soaking tub and separate rain shower. The rooms are not the largest on the Strip, but the outdoor terrace compensates for the interior square footage.

Pools

The Boulevard Pool is adults-only and sits on the third floor with Strip views. It is a beautiful pool — not the largest on the Strip, but one of the most atmospheric. The Marquee Dayclub operates as a pool party venue from April through September, with DJ performances and bottle service.

The Chelsea Pool is quieter and better for relaxation. During peak summer weekends, the Boulevard Pool can get crowded — arrive early to secure a lounger.

Dining

The Cosmopolitan has one of the strongest restaurant lineups on the Strip. Highlights include Eggslut (the best breakfast queue on the Strip), Wicked Spoon (a buffet that actually deserves the word "gourmet"), Zuma (exceptional Japanese), and the Secret Pizza on the 3rd floor — a hidden gem that serves some of the best pizza in Las Vegas at 3 AM.

Nightlife

Marquee Nightclub is one of the top clubs on the Strip, with a main room, library room, and boombox room. The Chandelier Bar — a three-story bar suspended inside a massive chandelier — is one of the most visually stunning bars in the world and worth visiting even if you are not a nightclub person.

What I Would Change

The resort fee ($45+/night) is high relative to what is included. The casino is smaller than some guests expect. Valet parking can be slow during peak hours. And the hotel's popularity means the lobby and elevators can feel crowded on weekend evenings.

Verdict

The Cosmopolitan is the best all-around luxury hotel on the Strip for most travelers. The terrace rooms are unique, the location is unbeatable, the dining is exceptional, and the overall energy is exactly what Las Vegas should feel like.
